Harrison's Lifetime Coarse Adult Bird Food

Harrison's Lifetime Coarse Adult Bird Food is a year-round maintenance formula designed to meet the nutritional needs of healthy, non-breeding, non-moulting birds. It is suitable for a variety of medium to large parrots, including Pionus, Amazons, Cockatoos, Macaws, and other similar species. This formula may be offered to birds after they have completed a dietary program of a High Potency formula for 6 months. It is also suitable for birds with specific dietary sensitivities.

Storage:
Harrison's Bird Foods do not contain artificial preservatives. Once opened, the bag should be used within 8 weeks. Storing food in the fridge or freezer helps maintain its freshness.

Feeding Directions:

  • Feed fresh food daily, and avoid "topping off" old food.

  • Serve the food as distinct meals to reduce waste.

  • Birds should be allowed to eat as much as they want, but the following are general guidelines for feeding amounts:

    • Pionus: 10-15g (1-1.5 tablespoons) of Adult Lifetime Coarse, plus ½ - 1 teaspoon of additional foods
    • Amazon: 15-30g (1.5-3 tablespoons) of Adult Lifetime Coarse, plus 1-2 teaspoons of additional foods
    • Eclectus: 15-30g (1.5-3 tablespoons) of Adult Lifetime Coarse, plus 1.5-2 teaspoons of additional foods
    • Large Cockatoos: 15-30g (1.5-5 tablespoons) of Adult Lifetime Coarse, plus 2-3 teaspoons of additional foods
    • Large Macaws: 20-60g (2-6 tablespoons) of Adult Lifetime Coarse, plus 2-4 teaspoons of additional foods

Feeding of Additional Items:

  • Harrison's products should make up 75-80% of your bird's diet by volume.
  • 15-20% should be high-quality, preferably organic vegetables and fruits. Recommended options include:
    • Dark yellow or green vegetables (e.g., sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, winter squash, broccoli, spinach)
    • Fruits such as mango, papaya, and berries
  • 5% should consist of high-quality, omega-3-rich foods, such as chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, or certain nuts.

It is not recommended to supplement with additional vitamins or other bird-specific supplements unless advised by a veterinarian.

For Birds with Iron-Storage Disease:
Avoid foods high in vitamin C and iron, including citrus fruits, tomatoes, kiwi, strawberries, grapes, raisins, liver, red meat, egg yolk, and dark green vegetables like spinach.
